KISD 2013-2014 Calendar Options

Kingsville ISD is seeking input from parents and employees on the 2013-2014 school calendar. We were notified by the Texas Education Agency that we could not count students attending Summer School courses at Universities as present during the first week of June. Therefore, we had to reconvene with the calendar committee to revise the 2013-2014 calendars that staff had already reviewed and had voted.

Below you will find the newly revised calendars for voting purposes. Please, if you are a school district employee or parent of KISD school children, vote for the calendar of your preference on Wednesday, April 24 – Friday, April 26, 2013. El Distrito Escolar Independiente de Kingsville pide a los padres y a los empleados del distrito su opinión acerca del calendario escolar 2013-2014. La Agencia Estatal de Educación en Texas nos ha notificado que el distrito escolar no puede contar como presentes durante la primera semana del mes de junio a los alumnos que tomarán clases de verano en la Universidad. Por lo tanto, el comité del calendario escolar se tuvo que reunir nuevamente para revisar los calendarios 2013-2014 que los empleados del distrito escolar ya habían revisado y votado con anterioridad. 

En la parte de abajo usted podrá ver los calendarios ya revisados para poder votar. Por favor, si usted es un empleado del distrito escolar o padre de familia de algún estudiante de nuestras escuelas, vote por el calendario de su preferencia a partir del miércoles 24 de abril hasta el viernes 26 de abril del 2013. Si necesita mayor información, por favor llame al 592-3387 Extensión 8126 y pida hablar con Sylvia Pérez.

Calendar Option A highlights:

• Employees’ start date is August 16th
• Students begin school on August 26th
• There are 175 Instructional Days w/TEA waiver  5 staff development  days
• The students’ last day is May 30th
• This calendar aligns with the calendar of TAMUK and other universities.  Employees and students wishing to take summer courses will be able to begin at the University on June 2nd
• There are only three early release days
• The final teacher workday is Saturday, May 31st
• Students and employees have three days off for Thanksgiving (three week days plus the weekend)
• Students and employees have ten days off for Winter Break (ten week days plus two weekends)

Calendar Option B highlights:

• Employees’ start date is August 16th
• Students begin school on August 26th  
• There are 177 Instructional Days w/TEA waiver 3 staff development  days
• The students’ last day is May 30th
• This calendar aligns with the calendar of TAMUK and other universities.  Employees and students wishing to take summer courses will be able to begin at the University on June 2nd
• There are only two early release days
• The final teacher workday is Saturday, May 31st
• Students and employees have five days off for Thanksgiving (five week days plus two weekends)
• Students and employees have nine days off for Winter Break (nine week days plus two weekends)
